While I was getting ready to paint the front door at our place I noticed light shining in around the door edges. It was a bright sunny day and the entry hall was dark inside. The sun beams were showing me the gaps around the door.
I figured that if that much light gets in a lot of heat will get out this winter.
At trip to the hardware store once again showed me the abundance of America. There were too many kinds of weather stripping to choose from. Several shapes and sizes in plastic, felt or foam took up half an aisle in the store. And I thought this would be an easy task to get off my “To Do” list quickly. I took home a box of this and a roll of that plus some of this and some of that.
The lowest priced roll of soft foam with peal off tape on the sticky side turned out to be the easiest for me to use. It stuck to the door frame the best and I could build it up in layers where I needed to fill a big gap. It is a very low tech product but it worked well for me.
After doing three doors I still had a variety of material left, I guess I’ll check the windows next. The door can get painted another day.
