Congratulations if you are working at home now. You are already saving energy. You do not waste expensive fuel commuting to work and back. You no longer waste your time and risk your life on the highways just to get to work.
Let us look at the Energy Boomer home office. My computer workstation is on a big table that lets me sit with my back to a pair of windows. I have pleasant natural light during the day without the temptation to watch the world outdoors. There is a table lamp between the windows with a Compact Fluorscent Lamp "bulb" in it. It is for nighttime general illumination.
The lamp on my worktable throws a lot of light only where my old eyes need it to read paper work. There is one additional small fluorescent task light on the other side of the room. It is there to help the African Violets grow. There is minimal whole room lighting and bright enough light only where it is need.bo
The Energy Boomer has a power strip on the worktable that everything plugs into. It has a row of switches so I can click items on or off at will. The scanner and the printer stay off until needed.
A single main switch easily cuts off all the electricity when my work session is done. That stops power leaking at the cable modem, computer and everything else that is plugged in.
When I use the telephone, take a bathroom break and raid the kitchen the computer is set to take a nap.
