Would you like to be paid sooner, or would you choose later?
When it comes to getting money we all think sooner is better.
When we talk about saving money sooner is better too.
The sooner you shut energy using equipment off, the more you save.
At your home, and at most commercial business, the electric meter continuously totals up the number for your bill. Every second you wait to shut something off the higher your bill will be.
For large industrial plants, utility companies read the meter every fifteen minutes. They calculate the bill by adding up the 15-minute readings. The longer you wait to shut down the higher the bill will be.
At home if you delay switching off the lights, it costs you extra. Stores that leave their display lights on, even a minute, after closing are wasting their money. At work if a conveyor is left running, longer than need, money is wasted.
At home shutting the TV off as soon as you are finished watching saves you money. When you leave a room shut off the lights. Shut off the oven as soon as you can. Shut the bathroom vent fan off as soon as it has done its job.
At work shut off that cooling fan when you take a break. When you stop for lunch, switch off the end of line lights. As soon a work stops, at the end of your shift, shut down all that you can.
When production stops at the end of the week, shut off as much as possible as soon as possible.
When it comes to saving money shutting off sooner is better.
